The Relationship between Health-promoting life style, self-efficacy, and social support in college woman students

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between health-promoting life style, self-efficacy, and social support in college woman students. The data were collected from 381 woman students from Sep. 3 to 16, 2008. Data were analyzed by SPSSWIN V. 15.0 program.
The results of this study were as follows: 1. There was significant difference in health-promoting life style, and it’s subconcept as self-actualization(F＝6.10, p＝.000), health responsibility(F＝4.13, p＝.007), and exercise and nutrition(F＝3.61, p＝.014) of college woman students according to age. There was significant difference in health responsibility(t＝-2.69, p＝.008), and exercise and nutrition(t＝-3.03, p＝.003) according to grade. And department of nursing mean score was higher than non-nursing dept., there was significant difference in self-actualization(t＝5.30, p＝.000), health responsibility(t＝5.68, p＝.000), interpersonal support(t＝3.81, p＝.000), stress management(t＝3.11, p＝.002) according to dept. There was significant difference in self-actualizadon(F＝9.19, p＝.000), health responsibility(F＝11.9, p＝.000), exercise and nutrition(F＝8.48, p＝.000), interpersonal support(F＝6.50, p＝.000), stress management(F＝4.50, p＝.00) according to degree of health concern. 2. There was significant difference in self-efficacy(F＝3.84, p＝.005) according to health concern, and there was significant difference in social support according to age(F＝3.28, p＝.021), dept(t＝2.87, p＝.004), health concern(F＝2.57, p＝.038). 3. There were significant correlations between health-promoting life style and self-efficacy(r＝.129, p＝.012), social support(r＝.411, p＝.000), and self-efficacy and social support(r＝.182, p＝.000).
